Laser Eye Surgery in Brisbane

Precision vision correction tailored to your unique eye anatomy. Free yourself from the limitations of glasses and contact lenses with Australia's leading refractive technology.

What are Refractive Errors?

Laser eye surgery is designed to correct refractive errors—common eye conditions that occur when the shape of your eye prevents light from focusing directly on the retina. Whether you are short-sighted (myopia), long-sighted (hyperopia), or have astigmatism, the goal of laser surgery is to reshape the cornea so that light focuses perfectly, resulting in crisp, clear vision.

Common Signs You May Be a Candidate:

  • Blurred Distance Vision: Difficulty seeing road signs or the TV clearly.
  • Near-Vision Struggles: Trouble focusing on close-up tasks or reading.
  • Astigmatism: Distorted or "stretched" vision at all distances.
  • Visual Fatigue: Eye strain or headaches after prolonged screen use or driving.
  • Lifestyle Barriers: Dependency on glasses or contact lenses for sports, swimming, or professional work.

How We Treat Vision Loss: The Specialist Advantage

Unlike high-volume clinics that may offer a one-size-fits-all solution, we provide three distinct laser modalities to ensure the safest and most effective result for your specific corneal architecture.

Dr. David Gunn provides a 'technology-first' approach, utilizing the most advanced laser platforms available in Queensland.

Wavelight Plus & Contoura Vision

This topography-guided system uses AI and 22,000 mapping points to create a 'digital passport' of your eye. It corrects not just your prescription, but microscopic irregularities.

Phorcides Analytic Engine

A breakthrough planning software that allows Dr. Gunn to calculate the most precise laser delivery pattern for highly predictable outcomes. What this means for you: AI-guided surgical planning results in fewer enhancement procedures and more predictable visual outcomes compared to standard laser surgery.

First in Australia

Dr Gunn was the first surgeon in Australia to offer the CLEAR (Corneal Lenticule Extraction for Advanced Refractive correction) procedure, bringing this next-generation lens-free technique to Queensland patients.

Why Choose Laser Correction?

Rapid Recovery

Most LASIK and CLEAR patients return to work and driving within 24–48 hours.

Exceptional Accuracy

Technology like Contoura Vision allows many patients to achieve vision better than 20/20.

Long-term Freedom

Ideal for those who find contact lenses uncomfortable or glasses restrictive.

Laser Eye Surgery FAQs

How much does laser eye surgery cost in Brisbane?
Our pricing is transparent and includes your surgery, hospital fees, and 12 months of post-operative care. • Trans-PRK: Starting from $3,500 per eye. • LASIK / CLEAR: Starting from $4,250 per eye.
Is the procedure painful?
No. We use potent anesthetic drops to completely numb the surface of the eye. Most patients report feeling only a slight sensation of pressure for a few seconds during the procedure.
What if I’m not suitable for laser?
As a comprehensive corneal surgeon, if your corneas are too thin for laser, Dr. Gunn specializes in alternatives such as ICL (Implantable Contact Lenses) or Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) to ensure you still achieve visual freedom.
How long do the results last?
Laser eye surgery permanently reshapes the cornea. While it cannot stop the natural aging of the lens inside the eye (presbyopia) that occurs in your 40s and 50s, the correction for your distance vision is designed to be permanent.
Does Medicare cover laser eye surgery?
Laser eye surgery is considered an elective procedure and is not covered by Medicare. However, some private health funds offer partial rebates. We provide detailed quotes and can help you check your fund eligibility
